During June, the Christian Shelter hosted a fishing trip for some of our guests. Hosted by our Executive Director Anthony Dickerson, the trip was the very first fishing experience for them!
The outing was more than just a chance for some fun in the sun, but also a valuable learning opportunity for all. One of our guests (we’ll call him “Mr. Kenny”), is a long-time angler. He agreed to be the guide for the getaway trip to Tyaskin Park, about 15 miles from Salisbury.
With patience and expertise, Mr. Kenny taught the other guests how to set up a fishing rod, attach a hook and bait, and cast a line into the water. It was a delightful sight to see everyone embracing the new skill with enthusiasm and curiosity.
One of the day’s memorable moments was when Brother Anthony reeled in a small eel, sparking cheers and laughter from all. Our guests enjoyed the park’s peaceful surroundings and the excitement of waiting for a bite.
As the day came to an end, they reflected on the valuable lessons learned and the joy of spending time together in a new setting. It was a day well spent, filled with laughter, learning and the simple pleasures of nature.
