Christian Shelter serves as a vital lifeline for men, women, and children experiencing homelessness. As a temporary emergency shelter in Salisbury, MD, we offer safe housing and nutritious meals. While these immediate needs are crucial, they’re just a small part of what we do.
Our mission is heavily influenced by the transformative power of love and support, which can lead to lasting change in the lives of those we serve. The heart of our work lies in the compassionate care offered by our dedicated staff. Our team members are empathetic listeners who understand the struggles faced by our guests.

Our Provision
Christian Shelter operates as a tax-exempt charitable organization, wholly sustained by the generosity of individuals and community groups. While we’re not affiliated with any specific denomination, a significant portion of our funding comes from local churches, Christian groups, and compassionate individuals who believe in our cause. Additionally, businesses and civic organizations play a crucial role in supporting our operations.
The annual cost of running Christian Shelter is substantial and continues to rise. This encompasses all necessary expenses, including utilities and ongoing maintenance for our over 60-year-old facility, which was originally a shirt factory.
Our shelter is designed to accommodate up to 72 homeless individuals around the clock, providing essential services every day of the year.
Moreover, our dedicated team consists of three administrative staff members and ten part-time night and support staff who work tirelessly to create a safe and welcoming environment for those we serve. Their modest remuneration reflects our commitment to ensuring that funds are primarily directed toward direct services for our guests rather than administrative overhead.
